The Global AI & Automation Strategy finished August on a strong note. The portfolio posted a return of +5.36% for the month, compared with +1.37% for the MSCI World Index (IWDA).
This means the strategy outperformed the global index by nearly 4 percentage points in August.
Since the strategy’s launch in May , the return stands at +1.30%. The MSCI World Index rose by approximately +2.71% over the same period . Despite the strong performance in August, the strategy is still slightly behind the global index since its inception .
The most significant contribution in August came from Artificial Intelligence. This position rose by approximately 8.6% during the month, making it by far the largest contributor to the return.
Automation & Robotics, AI Infrastructure, and Digital Security also showed positive performance. Digital Security, in particular, rebounded strongly.
Investments focused more on robotics are still lagging somewhat for the time being. This also underscores why the strategy is deliberately diversified across various segments of the AI and automation sector.
We remain positive about the long-term outlook for artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation. Investment in AI infrastructure remains substantial, while AI continues to shift from software toward applications in the physical economy.
As a result, robotics, autonomous systems, drones, cybersecurity, and industrial automation are likely to become increasingly important in the coming years.
That does not mean the upward trajectory will be without corrections. Valuations within parts of the technology sector are high, and volatility can be significant. The Global AI & Automation Strategy is therefore explicitly focused on the medium and long term.
Since its inception, the portfolio has returned +1.30 %. Following the strong gain of +5.36% in August, a large portion of the previous shortfall has been recouped.
| August | Since inception | |
|---|---|---|
| Global AI & Automation Strategy | +5.36% | +1.30% |
| MSCI World (IWDA) | +1.37% | +2.71% |
| Difference | +3.99% | −1.41% |
August thus clearly illustrates the strategy’s guiding principle: targeted investing in the various components of the AI and automation revolution, with the long-term goal of achieving a higher return than the broad global market.
